“Kia ora!” Anselm House is a
landmark building beside the Avon
River. Designed by the famous
architect Heathcote Helmore, it is
one of the few homes in Christchurch
built of Hanmer marble containing specimens of fossiled shells.
Guests can relax in our peaceful riverside garden, or cross over the
brick bridge to view historic Riccarton House and Deans Forest.
Delicious continental or cooked breakfasts are served in the formal
dining room or in the bay window of the family room overlooking
the Avon River. An evening meal is available by arrangement. Each
bedroom has TV. A fridge is available for guests’ use. Free 24 hour
coffee /tea accessible with cookies and seasonal fruit. We are endorsed
as Kiwi Green certified using only eco-friendly products and practices
which minimize our carbon footprint. As New Zealanders, we offer
